Nadav Kander is a London-based photographer, artist and director renowned for his portraiture and large-format landscape photographs. He was born in Israel, grew up in Johannesburg and moved to London in 1982. This image is one of 28 images from the series Chernobyl, Half Life.

“This is photographed in Ukraine. Pripyat was the city most affected when the Chernobyl Nuclear reactor burned. Back then this population had to hastily leave becoming refugees themselves. They left a city that stands empty still. Now a new era and a new population is on the move. I’m sick to the stomach. Saddened by the darkness.”
